Atul Ahuja partnered with Flemingo in 2003 and set up the Indian duty free business. Being a visionary and a true value-builder he continues to be the driving force behind Flemingo’s tremendous success and prosperity over the years. He is instrumental in identifying the potential business opportunities that Flemingo can use to grow, especially inorganically.
Paul has been in the duty free industry for over 25 years and has held a number of important positions during this time. He had been the Managing Director at Alpha Retail International, the Managing Director at Alpha Asia, the President of the Asian Business Wing of Aldeasa and the Director of the South-East Asian Wing of Heinemann.
Currently, Paul is an independent Director at Flemingo International and is also a Director at Odel, the largest non-food retailer in Sri Lanka.
He is also the CEO of Tractopping, a leading travel retail consultancy and even possesses his own winery, The Bangalore Soma Winery, where he is the Director. People fondly call him ‘The Wine Man’ in Sri Lanka for his long involvement in the winery industry there.
Carlo is an independent Director at Flemingo .
Earlier he had headed the procurement of the famous Bally and Swatch Groups.
He had worked for Nuance since 1999 as the Director of its Buying and Merchandising Division in Europe, and also as the CEO of Nuance’s entire European wing of business affairs. He was also the EVP of Business Development at Nuance since 2006 and was also a part of the Executive Management Team overseeing the retail & distribution services worldwide. He was in charge of the Indian Wing at Nuance during his tenure.
He is a Director at Flemingo International Retail with immense business knowledge & experience invaluable to the company.
As an entrepreneur and a visionary he had garnered 18 years of vital experience in the banking industry before starting his own business – M H Enterprises LLC, a multinational company that deals with food products and chemicals. His company employs over 700 people and has a turnover of around Half a Billion Dirhams. Such massive growth occurred due to the Chemicals, Disposable Products, Food Processing & Packaging divisions of his business expanding, and acquiring distribution divisions of various multinational agencies as well.
He is an Investor Director at Flemingo .
He is also the founder and Managing Director of Samara Capital.
Prior to this he worked with Goldman Sachs, New York and Citigroup, India.
He did his MBA from Harvard Business School and IIM Lucknow, and also got an engineering degree from IIT Roorkee.
An esteemed Director at Flemingo International , Peter also formed the company Cartesian, and prior to that even founded and served as the President & CEO of AIG Capital Partners, Inc. or AIGCP.
Under his leadership, AIGCP grew to become one of the leading private equity firms dedicated to the emerging markets. By the time he left the company, AIGCP managed to earn more than $5 Billion for institutional investors, which is quite a phenomenal achievement!
Peter chaired investment committees for eight AIGCP private equity funds and led numerous successful transactions in Latin America, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe.
Before founding AIGCP in 1996, Peter served as the Director of the National Economic Council –the White House office responsible for developing and coordinating national economic policies.
A Harvard Law Graduate, Peter served as the President of the Harvard Law Review and also as a Law Clerk at the U.S. Supreme Court. He holds a BA from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School.
Michael Schmidt is a Senior Vice President at Samena Capital. He has more than 10 years of private equity experience. Since joining Samena Capital in 2013, he been focusing on investment in Asia, initially from Dubai and currently based in Hong Kong. Prior to that, he worked as Investment Manager at EQT Partners and as an Associate at Credit Suisse First Boston. He holds a Master in Business Administration from Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany.
