The Flemingo/DFS joint venture, Mumbai Duty Free, has opened the first dedicated luxury store from global drinks group, Pernod Ricard, in Indian duty free and travel retail.
Luxe Boutique at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM) – which is operated by Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) – was officially opened late last week by Pernod Ricard India Partners in terminal two.
At the launch of the joint initiative with Mumbai Duty Free, Kartik Mohindra, Business Head – International Brands at Pernod Ricard India, said: “We are proud to present our first exclusive luxury retailing experience – the Luxe Boutique store here in India. Indian consumers are increasingly adopting luxury wines and spirits and this unique boutique will provide an exclusive yet intimate brand experience across our entire portfolio.”
Pernod Ricard claims the store is a “first-of-its-kind, an exclusive wine and spirits store housing a vast portfolio of the most premium and rare collections under one roof”. Luxe Boutique offers the company’s popular brands as well as very rare whiskies like Chivas Regal Icon (priced at $3,500), of which two bottles are available in the BOM store.
Among the over 40 SKUs in the premium selection are: Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute, Chivas Regal 25-year-old, Ballantine’s 30yo, The Glenlivet 25yo, Ballantine’s 17yo, Royal Salute 38yo, Absolut Elyx, G.H. Mumm Champagne & Brancott Estate wines.
SENSORIAL ENVIRONMENT :-
Designed on the theme of fluid architecture, the boutique has a large illuminated droplet-shaped centrepiece. Gently ‘waved’ back walls on which the brands rest to create a sensorial environment for customer.
The boutique also houses an exclusive digital interaction area where shoppers can learn more about single malt or Scotch brands by simply placing a bottle on the interactive screen which works on RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology. The screen then informs the customer about that particular bottle.
